Demolition will begin the end of October 2019, and go through January 2020. Construction will begin immediately after.
How long will construction last?
Construction is estimated to take 18 months from the time demolition is complete. It is the goal of the development team to complete this project in as timely a manner as possible.
What is being built on the property?
The Academy on Mapleton is a 93-residence congregate care senior living community with 42 Medicare-certified senior rehabilitation beds to be built on the site of the former Boulder Sanitarium. Occupying a 16-acre site, The Academy will include independent living, assisted living, short-term rehabilitative care, long-term and memory care options. The Academy offers a full spectrum of care and services, including communal dining, social and recreation facilities, and special safety and convenience features designed for the needs of the elderly, including, among others, transportation, housekeeping and linen services and organized social activities.
What are you doing to minimize the impacts of construction to the neighborhood?
Construction isn't fun for anyone, and it is a priority for the team to minimize the impact of construction on the surrounding neighborhood as much as possible. We've hired a neighborhood liaison as a resource for the community, who will be made available to answer any questions or concerns regarding the project, and provide updates as progress occurs.
In discussions with general contractors, the team made it a condition of the proposals to plan multiple truck routes to and from the site, alternating on different days of the week, to spread the impacts to multiple streets fewer days a week. We will also be hosting public meetings with the general contractors to solicit public input and to work through construction management details.
